A Celebration of All Things Dahlia
Make sure Kelmarsh Hall’s Dahlia Festival is in your diary when the popular two-day event makes a return to the Northamptonshire country house this year. In celebration of the impressive collection of dahlias at Kelmarsh Hall, a programme of specially-themed activities will take place on Sunday 4th September and Sunday 18th September.
The historic walled kitchen garden is home to a wonderful, varied display of dahlias and in recent years, new American-bred varieties have been added to the collection as a nod to former resident Nancy Lancaster’s American roots. Varieties that can be found at Kelmarsh Hall include Crazy Legs, Sassafras, Lucky Ducky and Junkyard Dog.
For those wishing to find out more about how to grow, care for and get the most from these magnificent flowers, there will be special dahlia clinics led by gardening experts, so that you too can enjoy a vibrant display in your own garden.
In addition, there will be garden tours led by our Head Gardener, flower arranging demonstrations and a daily talk – more details will be published on the Kelmarsh Hall website nearer the time. The Grade I listed Hall will be open for visitors to view at their leisure from 2pm to 4pm on a free-flow basis.
The opening times are 11am to 5pm and there will be a single entry fee to the hall, gardens and all the events during the Dahlia Festival: £8 for adults, £4.50 for children aged 5-14, free entry for under-fives and a 20% discount for RHS members (£6.40).
Due to this being a special event other membership cards cannot be used, including the Kelmarsh garden season ticket, and those planning on visiting the tea room only will be required to pay the full admission fee.
