Nagarjuna Kadampa Buddhist Centre is set in the beautiful countryside of Kelmarsh where it serves as a special place of peace and refuge. Everyone is welcome to visit or stay and enjoy this peaceful place. The Centre has three beautiful meditation rooms, a relaxing World Peace Café, open grounds, en-suite guest/residents rooms, and a thriving, diverse, international community of people of all ages.

The Centre offers an exciting spiritual programme for all levels of interest through a variety of meditation classes, day and weekend courses and retreats. The Centre welcomes people from all faiths and those who do not subscribe to any faith. You do not have to be a Buddhist to take part in the programme or to benefi t from it.

Kadampa Buddhism is a living tradition practised by people in all walks of life throughout the world, bringing practical wisdom and inspiring solutions into our modern life. Handed down from Buddha Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism, in an unbroken lineage to modern-day teachers such as venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT - IKBU) is a growing spiritual family with more than 1,100 centres and groups throughout the world dedicated to the development of inner peace and happiness.

The Nagarjuna half day courses are a perfect opportunity to learn a range of meditation
techniques enabling you to develop inner peace and happiness. The courses are either ‘Learn to Meditate’ or Combat Stress@Work, taking place on Saturdays from 10.30am to 1.15pm; they are suitable for beginners and includes a vegetarian lunch.

In addition, there is a range of relaxing and uplifting day courses taking place at the  Centre during term time; full details can be found on the website.

Drop-in meditation classes run at lunchtime Monday through Thursday from 1pm-1.40pm and Fridays from 1pm-2pm. Classes are 3.50 and include a free hot drink at the World Peace Café. Evening classes take place Mondays and Wednesdays 7.30-9pm and Sundays 7pm-8.30pm and cost £5 per class.

A typical class consists of guided relaxation meditations and a teaching on how to improve our inner well being by developing positive states of mind and inner peace in our daily life. Suitable for all, the drop-in classes are self-contained and can be joined at any time during term time.

There are also weekly ‘meditation classes for kids’ during term time on Mondays from 4-5.30pm; these classes aim to develop the positive qualities in children through  meditation and positive thinking. With fun activities, drama and art, they are suitable for ages 5-11years and are all based on Buddhist philosophy.

Schools, universities, community groups and others are welcome to visit Nagarjuna Kadampa Buddhist Centre or, alternatively, members of the team can visit you for talks on Buddhism and meditation.

The World Peace Café is open every day from 11am-5pm, this peaceful oasis servesonly the fi nest Italian coffee, a variety of teas, homemade scones, cakes and freshly cooked vegetarian meals and is fully accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The Café hosts parents & tots coffee mornings every Thursdays from 12pm-2pm. You can also book the lounge for your meetings or hire it for special events.

The Book & Gift Shop is also open every day from 11am-5pm; you can browse to fi nd books
on Buddhist meditation and philosophy, get yourself a relaxing meditation CD or buy a nice
gift or fair trade goodies.

The Nagarjuna Kadampa Buddhist Centre will be holding two Open Days in 2012 on Sunday 29 January and Sunday 9 September from 11am-4pm. There will be the opportunity to try out meditation, take a guided tour of the building or just relax in the World Peace Café and grounds.
