The Rural Crime Team have had a busy few months with offi cers deployed to Edinburgh and London after the death of Her Majesty the Queen and keeping enquiries going back in force.

One such investigation, led by PC Colin Gray, is around a series of cable thefts that have occurring across the north of the county which has led to two warrants being executed with support from other forces and agencies, leading to the recovery of stolen cable, a stolen Toyota Hilux, a stolen Citroen van and a large dinosaur statue! Enquiries are ongoing into this currently.

Another investigation that reached its conclusion in Crown Court was led by PC Chloe Gillies, who conducted a warrant into the trade of items from endangered species with the help of the National Wildlife Crime Unit and seized many items including wild orchids, musk, seahorses, ginseng and pangolin scales, often thought to be the most traffi cked mammal in the world.

After being charged with seven offences, the suspect Lei Zheng was sentenced to six months in prison - suspended for 21 months and ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work.
