No. 13 Coffee Roasters began with a marriage of over twenty years and a common desire to roast amazing coffee and share it with others.  Maria & Tim Mulligan understood the power coffee possesses, not just in its wonderful taste but also in the social aspect of bringing people together.

Maria’s Italian roots meant she had been virtually weaned on coffee since a baby, and Tim’s introduction to good tasting coffee came through his extensive travels across the world including Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand, where his sisters live. 

Having realised that it was not that easy to buy coffee that was freshly roasted with an expiry date of a year plus, Maria & Tim purchased a one-kilo roaster and set about sourcing small batches of green beans.  With their passion to learn they started to make friends with small artisan roasters and visited some coffee growing regions to really learn the ethos of how and where coffee was grown and the intricate process coffee goes through before being cupped and sent all over the world.

After quite a few years of roasting, sampling and gathering experience, Maria & Tim felt the time was right for them to set up No. 13.  They purchased a five-kilo roaster and now source only the best, single-origin speciality-grade green coffee beans they can get; this is then roasted by hand in small batches to ensure you receive the freshest coffee possible.  The coffee is packed in a recyclable, re-sealable plastic bag with a totally neutral carbon footprint and a recyclable band, which has all the information about the coffee and can be removed and disposed of in a regular recycling bin.

Maria & Tim sell their speciality coffee online or from their solar-powered horse box stall, which is also available for corporate and private hire.  They attend farmers market every second and third Saturday of each month at Oundle and Rothwell respectively, where they sell takeaway coffee and beverages and, of course, their delicious coffee beans.
