The Snooty FoxThe Snooty Fox

The Snooty Fox in Lowick is the third pub opened by Richard Gordon and Sonya Harvey, who also run award-winning pubs The Red Lion at Cranford and The Pig & Waffl e at Grafton Underwood. Richard and Sonya intend for their latest venture to be known as Northamptonshire’s fi nest free house. Snooty by name but not by nature, the pub is a social hub for locals to meet, as well as attracting visitors from around the county keen to enjoy the excellent food and drinks on offer.

Having undergone extensive refurbishment to create a traditional country pub interior combined with a modern, industrial feel from the handmade elm bar, hand-painted fox murals, to striking design features, The Snooty Fox offers a vibrant, warm and stylish space for friends and families to come together. There is also an inviting front garden where customers can enjoy al fresco dining and a chilled drink in the sun.

Whether you are looking for a quick drink and snack, a delicious mid-week lunch, a Sunday roast or a venue to treat yourself for a special occasion, The Snooty Fox has it all. Its frequently changing menus and specials celebrate the best of local and British produce, with the talented team of chefs crafting dishes from prime seasonal ingredients, including fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs grown at the pub’s kitchen garden in nearby Brigstock.

Guests are guaranteed a warm welcome from the attentive and knowledgeable front-of-house team led by general manager Matt Sear, previously at The Red Lion at Cranford. Head Chef Luke Marsh, whose fi rst head chef role was with Michelin-starred chef Clive Dixon at Snooty Inns - a previous owner of The Snooty Fox - has more than 20 years’ chef experience, including at Stamford’s Slanted Door and The George of Stamford.

There are dishes to suit all palates and pockets, with a set lunch menu served Wednesday to Saturdays, offering one course for £14.95 and up to three-courses for £24.95. Enticing menus hold everything from tasty snacks, such as warm Scotch eggs and pork scratchings with apple sauce; comforting classics like roast belly of free-range pork, steak burger, shepherd’s pie and delicious dry-aged steaks, including côte de boeuf, from award-wining butcher Aubrey Allen who hold the Royal Warrant.

Seafood dishes include fresh West Mersea oysters, succulent king prawns and sustainable native North Wales lobsters straight from the pub’s own kitchen tank. For steak and seafood lovers, who can’t decide which way to go, try the mouth-watering signature steak & lobster dish, with a succulent 6oz fi llet steak and delicious lobster tail cooked simply on a wood-fi red grill. A regularly changing range of exciting vegetarian and vegan dishes are also available, which are so good that they will impress even the biggest of carnivores.

Saving space for dessert is a must with options such as mini brioche doughnuts, pistachio souffl é and lemon crème brûlée. The English cheese board or a liqueur coffee, made with beans from The Roastery in Wellingborough, would also be a perfect way to end your meal.
