Taking place over the August Bank Holiday weekend from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August, this year’s Silverstone Classic is shaping up to be another absolute cracker. Celebrating the “Best of British” both on and off the track with packed grids covering all categories of historic racing and nostalgic fun for all the family. There will also be a world exclusive display of Lewis Hamilton’s seven title-winning cars.

HISTORIC RACING

No country has spawned as many F1 world champions as Great Britain, who has ten in total; from Hawthorn to Hamilton, with British-based manufacturers such as Vanwall, who took the very fi rst constructers championship in 1958. Races will include British marques such as Cooper, Brabham, Tyrell, McClaren, Lotus and Williams. There will be 14 categories, with qualifying on Friday followed by racing on Saturday and Sunday. Races include: Historic Formula Junior, HSCC Historic F2, RAC Woodcote Trophy and Sterling Moss Trophy, Historic Touring Car Challenge, Masters Endurance Legends, HSCC Thundersports, Pre 66 Classic GT Cars, Pre 66 GP Cars, Transatlantic Pre 66 Touring Cars, Pre-War BRDC 500, The Yokohama Trophy for Sports Car Legends and RAC Historic Trophy for Pre 63 Sports Cars. New for this year is the Masters GT4 Challenge for modern supercar models homologated for GT racing.

CAR CLUB DISPLAYS

Always a major feature, anniversaries include 100 years of the Austin 7, and Ford Cortina, MGB and AC Cobra are all celebrating their 60th Birthdays. There will also be a major display of the UK’s rarest cars; these are mainstream cars of the past most of which have now become endangered species. There will be around 50 vehicles displaying on each of the three days where enthusiasts can expect to see types such as the Allegro, Fiat 127, Hillman Hunter and MG Metro.

LIVE MUSIC

Three nights of rousing entertainment kicks off with The Cuban Brothers and Björn Again on Friday evening, Sister Sledge and Gabrielle on Saturday, and Sundays’ line up has Rick Astley and The Shires.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS

Centre piece of the Foodie Fest is Jeremy Clarkson’s exalted Diddly Squat Farm Shop, which has achieved cult status drawing huge crowds to his Cotswold base. There will also be demos from celebrity chefs, a tasting tent and an artisan market celebrating “Made in Northamptonshire”. A Vintage Funfair, shopping mall and hot air balloons round off the fun.
