Kelmarsh Gardens are open for the season until Thursday 30th September on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Sundays, and Bank Holiday Mondays from 10am to 4pm. Regular Kelmarsh visitors know the gardens come to life in spring, with their intimate, feminine feel, occasionally broken by wide pastoral views over the 18th century Lake. The team of volunteers has worked tirelessly with experts and Kelmarsh’s head gardeners and this year welcome new garden staples including woodland statues and an impressive swift tower. This season also sees the introduction of picturesque walks, an enchanting fairy trail, and the welcoming of Sweet Pea’s Tea Room to the team.

The new cherub statues express earth, wind, fi re, and water were created by Haddonstone, a local Northamptonshire-based company. The statues are delicately placed across the winding woodland walk, which is enclosed by the native trees: mature oaks, horse chestnut, alder, and willows. The trail meanders from the sunken garden, past Kelmarsh House, through to the 60m long border.

Visitors can view the impressive swift tower located in the centre of the walled garden, surrounded by warm brick walls and the uniquely-shaped triangular garden fi lled with colour-rich borders containing swathes of cut fl owers grown by Nancy Lancaster to decorate the Hall with. The swift tower will be in place until August and aims to encourage swifts to breed by playing swift calls on a loop through a solar speaker.

Garden of The Year Awards

Kelmarsh Hall is a member of the Historic Houses Association and this year has been nominated for the 2021 Garden of the Year Award. Delighted that the Grade II* listed gardens were selected among eight other gardens across the country, the Kelmarsh team hopes that visitors will vote for the gardens to win the award via garden-of-the-year.

To help protect each other, Kelmarsh Hall has all of the required COVID precautions in place to ensure a safe visit. You can experience Kelmarsh gardens throughout the year with a season ticket, allowing access to the beautiful Grade II* listed gardens, wilderness woodland and lakeside walks throughout the open season. Tickets can be purchased for individuals or family tickets (two adults and up to three children).
