Late August saw a life-long dream come true
for Ali Campbell as she opened her coffee
shop in Orlingbury. Based in the village, the
Campbell family set up Wythmails in charming
premises previously used as a black smith’s
and post office, and named it after a deserted
village nearby referenced in the Domesday
Book.

Wythmails serves breakfast, brunch and lunch
all day using an eclectic mix of local produce
and baking, and the team pride themselves
on improving their friendly service every day.
Meat, bread, eggs, fruits and vegetables are
all sourced from local suppliers and delicious
servings made from scratch on site. Most
items on the menu can be adapted into smaller
portions for children.

Locally baked cakes, brownies, rocky roads
and home-made sausage rolls are always
available from the counter and you can have
a take out too. A selection of local produce is
also available to buy and orders can be placed
for Hambleton Bakery bread and bakes.

Yellow Bourbon in Northampton supplies the
coffee and the Tea Lab Company the loose
leaf tea.

The menu includes English or vegetarian
breakfast, homemade granola, French toast
and pancakes served with maple syrup
mascarpone. There is a selection of sausage
rolls, sandwiches and rolls, as well as
sourdough toast with smashed avocado with
chilli, mint-toasted seeds and feta and other
options.

The Wythmails menu changes regularly with
options such as ‘Triple Decker’ consisting
of grilled chicken, cheddar cheese, streaky
bacon, avocado, sliced tomatoes, leaves, garlic
aioli on toasted sour dough and
Moroccan flatbread with Harissa spiced
roasted chickpeas,
smashed avocado, homemade
dukkah, and pomegranate. Look
out for daily specials – previous
examples have included sweet
potato & chorizo hash, with a
fried egg and chipotle and pankobreaded
fish goujon sandwich,
homemade caper mayo, crispy
capers and skin on fries.

The generous fruit scones or
cheese scones served with chili
jam and cream cheese or butter
and green kitchen chutney are
equally hard to resist.

Wythmails is open daily 9am to
4pm - closed Tuesdays until the
end of October.
