You like to volunteer and are ready to take the fight against dementia to the next level, but maybe your commitments are constantly changing or you have a lot on?  If so, Side by Side could be just the thing for you.

The Side by Side Service was developed to combat many of the effects of loneliness and loss of confidence suffered by people living with dementia.  Side by Side pairs a local volunteer to a person with dementia, based on similar hobbies, interests or life experiences.  The volunteer visits either weekly or fortnightly for a few hours to support a person to continue to do the things they love, or even to  try something new.  This can include helping out at their allotment, joining a local club, going to yoga, visiting a historic building or just going for a stroll in the park.

This fun, friendly, super-flexible volunteering opportunity will help you bring a lot of joy into someone’s life by empowering them to continue to remain active an continue to play a part in their community.  Whatever they like to do, together you decide where and when.

With someone developing dementia every three minutes, there are nearly 1,000 people waiting for volunteers right now.  Sign up for Side by Side and get ready to make a difference: not only to their lives, but to yours.
