Last time we told you about our Elton site being a show site for Summerhouses from Scotts of Thrapston.  In addition, we now have a range of sheds available to view and order from I N Sheds, a small family business based on the Northamptonshire/ Leicestershire border.  Their range includes sheds, potting sheds, garden rooms and playhouses.

A potting shed can offer the ideal crossover between a greenhouse and a shed providing growing space and somewhere to keep the mower and the rest of the garden tools.  Drop in and take a look at the full range.

Summer bedding will be coming to an end now but that doesn’t mean the colour has to go from the garden.  Now would be the time to start planting autumn bedding such as pansies and cyclamen.  Sedum “Autumn Joy” is a lovely plant that flowers through to September, providing a source of nectar for the bees and butterflies, late on in the season.  Their pink flowers turning bronzy red towards the end of their flowering adding to the colour of autumn.  Jobs in the garden include deadheading and tidying of plants to keep them flowering.

Some TLC for the lawn now will help you achieve a better lawn for next spring and summer.   Scarifying involves removing the moss and thatch from the lawn.  This can look quite brutal initially but will lead to a better-looking lawn for next year; it is also a good time to apply moss treatment and feed for the roots.

As we approach the months of September and October, the children are back at school, summer holidays start becoming a distant memory and our thoughts here at the garden centre turn once again to Christmas.  The ‘build’ starts during September ready for opening in October.

In fact, work on our booking system for Christmas Events was taking place on the hottest day of the year in July.  Difficult to get into ‘Christmas mode’ when the temperature outside was reaching 35 degrees! All of our events are now open for booking.  Visit or drop in or give us a call.

We have all the usual favourites including Tea with Santa, Santa’s Grotto, the Giant Snowglobe, Santa’s Storytime and Breakfast with Santa.  Book early to avoid disappointment.

The real reindeer were really popular last year and they will be returning to us again this year and our singing reindeer (which are not real!!) will have some new songs this year.  Our Lemax display is bigger and better and interactive!  If you have not seen Lemax it is a highly collectable range of little village scenes.

There are still some spaces on our late coach trips for this year to include Winter Wonderland in London and Birmingham’s Christmas Market, from only £15 per person.  A great start to get into the festive season.
