Ruby Celebrations

To mark the fortieth anniversary of its conception, Rushden Town Band, under the baton of Adele Hudson, will be holding a concert at the Rushden Bowling Club on Saturday 15th June at 7.30pm.

Joining with the band as its guests, will be the prestigious Northampton Male Voice Choir who, not only have successfully competed in many competitions, but also have raised a significant sum of money for charity.  The concert will also be part of Celebrate Rushden Week.

Way back in 1979, a local musician, Peter Kneale, had the idea of creating a ‘B’ band for the Windmill Band in Rushden.

Today, now known as Rushden Town Band, it has gone from strength to strength progressing through the banding sections.  In January this year it was promoted to The Championship Section where the likes of Brighouse, Grimethorpe and Fodens play.

Rushden Town Band now consists of 25 members of all ages with some vacancies currently on cornet and B flat bass.   In 2010, the band played in the Fourth Section, but has a rapid rise up the sections to the Championship.  Having competed in the Midlands Area contest recently, the band will continue to play in the Championship Section in 2020 - something the band had only dreamt of!   The band has a full diary of engagements for the coming year including playing in Abington Park, our anniversary concert, Proms concerts and, as usual, plenty of Christmas carol concerts.

The Ruby Celebrations Evening promises to be full of fabulous musical entertainment suitable for all.  Tickets cost £8 and more details can be obtained from Hilary Hill on 07534 946 154.  Tickets are limited in number, so book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
