Northamptonshire Energy Saving Service is a new free, confidential and independent service available to households in the county experiencing difficulties keeping warm at home.  This may be due to low income or debt resulting in problems affording to pay for fuel, homes being cold/draughty, broken heating, or a combination of several of these factors.

Funding has been secured from National Grid’s Warm Homes Fund to deliver this exciting new service which aims to support up to 6,000 households over three years.  The bid was designed by Community Law Service who are delivering the Service along with Care and Repair, South Northants Volunteer Bureau and Citizens Advice Services Corby and Kettering.  Northamptonshire County Council has a strategic role in the project working with the different boroughs and districts.

The Service is delivered in a number of ways: advice centre appointments, community outreach appointments, home visits, telephone advice, email advice and innovative service delivery on the Rural Information Centre vehicle.

Services on offer are all designed to ensure Northamptonshire residents keep as warm and well in their homes as possible:
• Comprehensive Welfare Benefit advice
• Help for households to find better energy deals
• Debt and money advice
• Home energy assessments followed by a range of practical measures in the home to address the issues identified
• Gas safety checks, servicing and minor boiler repairs
• Energy efficiency advice
• Referrals to relevant  energy company schemes
