The Fairfax & Favor Rockingham International Horse Trials runs from Friday 18th through Sunday 20th May, and this year promises something of a Royal Wedding theme to celebrate the nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Saturday 19th May.

Walking the cross country course is the best way to absorb both the views and the atmosphere, as horses gallop almost within touching distance.  It is also on course that spectators will see the winning design for the Fairfax and Favor fence, as well as a Royal Wedding celebration jump.  Should the wedding be televised, large screens in the Bar will show the proceedings from Windsor.

At the weekend event riders are joined by both Pony and Riding Club teams, and Arena Eventing competitors, but it’s not all about horses; for smaller four-legged friends, the ‘have a go’ Dog Agility ring will welcome your canine companions.

Home Start’s Corby branch is hosting a craft tent, running hobby horse obstacle races and craft opportunities for children to enjoy.  Also making a debut will be The Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT).  Rockingham’s official timekeeper and sponsor of the Loomes Challenge, Robert Loomes & Co, will be hosting GWT on its tradestand in celebration of last year’s summit reaching climb of Mount Everest by three serving Gurkhas, one of whom was wearing an exclusive Robert Loomes watch.  This handmade, all-English watch will be sold at auction later this year to raise vital funds for the Trust.

There is so much more than simply top class sport at Rockingham.  The event is a shopper’s delight, with everything from leather goods to ladies clothing, fine art photography to fudge, as well as a large bar and diverse array of food outlets.

Tickets start at £10 for adults and £3 for children 6-16 years old.  Discounts are available for advance tickets bought on line.  Car parking is free.
