Happy 10th Anniversary!

Corby Outdoors Festival in its tenth year will be taking place from 28th May through 3rd June 2018.  A wider range of outdoor activities will be offered, including cycling and running.  This year will also be particularly exciting as the Festival will be teaming up with the Corby’s hugely successful CycleFest event, which is in its third year, to offer even more great opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors across the borough. The walking programme will continue to be an important part of the Festival itinerary for the week and there will be lots of opportunity to sample and appreciate some of the borough’s beautiful countryside and urban woodland areas.

The Festival will kick off with a free Family Fun Day on Monday 28th May at East Carlton Country Park.  Organised by the Festival’s beneficiary charity, Lakelands Day Care Hospice, the event will run from 12noon to 4pm.  Join in the family fun with archery, bouncy castles, face painting, children’s rides and much more.  If your dog deserves a Crufts style accolade, enter them into the Lakelands Dog Show!

If you have a love of all things cycling, CycleFest will take place on Saturday 2nd June, outside the Corby Cube, located in the heart of Corby Town Centre. For those who want more of an adrenaline rush, challenge yourself to the Lakelands Firewalk event on Friday 31st May.  Visit www. lakelandshospice.org.uk or the Lakelands Facebook page for more information.

Corby borough is rich in open spaces in the town itself and also has the magnificent Rockingham Forest and Welland Valley on its doorstep.  The Festival showcases the fact that you don’t have to travel far to get active outdoors and enjoy one of the parks or woodland areas, like the medieval Kingswood. The walk and events programme will be finalised by the end of April.
