Dear Reader With this issue, Village Connect will be celebrating fourteen years of bringing local business to local villages. The inaugural 36-pager was distributed to 2,000 homes in 16 villages back in April 2005. Circulation now stands at 22,000 homes and businesses in 72 villages, and I would like to thank you all for your continued loyalty over the years. Village Connect encourages support of local businesses, events and charities, many of whom will benefit from the free exposure they get with often limited budgets. In addition to the printed version, there is an online version on the Village Connect website, including a full listing of advertisers and an archive of previous articles. The Facebook page is kept up to date with news and special offers in our community, so please ask your friends and followers to like the Village Connect page too so they don’t miss out. Spring is certainly well underway, with lighter mornings and joyful reminders of new life piercing through the ground to the sound of birds busy nesting away. March will see the celebration of Mothering Sunday, and you could surprise your Mum with a natural beauty product from Tropic, see page 40, or a bunny or doggy crafted in wood by Gordon Binley in aid of Geddington Primary School, see page 56. April marks the opening for the season for most of our splendid country houses. At Boughton House, page 22, you can shape your own touring journey, and Lamport Hall will host an antiques and vintage fair, see page 46, and Kelmarsh Hall an artisan food fair and spring walk, see page 74. Rockingham Castle, page 28; Deene Park, page 36; and Lyveden, page 60, all have Easter egg hunts and trails for the family to enjoy. For the vintage car enthusiasts, go to pages 86-87 to read about Daventry’s first classic car show, and nature lovers should read about Desborough & Districts Group of the Wildlife Trust on page 76. From outdoor life to indoor culture with concerts, literary events, theatre performances and cinema screenings, you will find plenty to do this spring in the pages ahead.
