It seems as though the tradition of cream teas is still alive and kicking - and thank goodness for that!

Wadenhoe continues to be an incredibly popular place to visit, particularly in the summer months. You can head off from the centre of the village in a number of directions along some of the prettiest footpaths in the area, following the river, over the meadows or through the woods

Imagine the scene: parked and booted with a map and some basic provisions in a rucksack, dog pulling on the lead in anticipation and children asking: “how far are we going?” An hour or so later, back at the car, ready for some refreshment and there is the welcoming vision of the village hall.

The village hall has been completely regenerated over the last couple of years and, along with that, has come an updated vision concerning the provision of cream teas. No longer will the committee be serving teas every Sunday; instead, they have decided to hold two cream tea festival weekends.

You will be offered a full afternoon tea, consisting of a bottomless cup of tea (or coffee or squash), a selection of sandwiches, a scone with jam and cream and a selection of homemade cakes. Sparkling wine will also be chilled and ready for those needing a little extra!

This delicious assortment will be available over the bank holiday weekends 24th/25th/26th May and 23rd/24th/25th August between 3pm and 5.30pm.
