To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Dr Who, an unknown resident of Titchmarsh has turned the village phone box into Dr Who’s time machine. This transformation is the latest in a long line of installations which have seen the decommissioned phone box as, amongst other things, a Pudsey Bear, a Snowman, and a giant Christmas present. The transformation into a Tardis is by far the most ambitious and the one that has attracted most attention.

In 2012, the phone box was adopted by The Clubroom (Village Hall) committee and over the last eighteen months unknown individuals have used it to promote activities in the village or to celebrate local and national events.

Geoff Love, Chairman of The Clubroom committee, is unsure who the perpetrators are, but welcomes the addition to village life. The fi rst installations came as a surprise, and no one owned up to doing them. Over time though a number of organisations and individuals have added their own decorations to the phone box, and The Clubroom committee welcomes contributions from anyone with a good idea. They are not currently aware who has transformed the phone into Dr Who’s Tardis, as it happened over night, but it has certainly caused a stir in the village.
