With the recent discovery of the bones of King Richard III, Leicestershire’s famous Wistow Maze has a timely and appropriate historical theme for 2013. Created in the shape of a ‘boar’, Richard III’s emblem, this year’s Wistow Maze has been designed not only to intrigue and delight our appetite for all things historical, but also to test visitors’ knowledge of our great British Kings & Queens.

Opening this year on Saturday 20th July, the Wistow Maze features over three miles of intricate pathways through 8 acres of living corn, with high level bridges and towers giving unrivalled 3D panoramic views. The challenge for visitors is to fi nd 12 quiz boards hidden amongst the pathways in the giant maze.

Each quiz board focuses on a British monarch and will help unravel the answer to the Quiz Trail, whilst also giving top facts about that particular King or Queen.

On an excellent family day out, visitors can not only pit their wits against the maze but can also take part in a variety of mini mazes, games and table top activities in the Activity Funyard, which includes a space hopper track, hoopla and a football shooting game. In the Funyard children will also get to learn about the armour and weaponry used during the Battle of Bosworth, where King Richard III lost his life and crown to Henry Tudor, and thus where the Tudor dynasty was born.

Across the road is the Wistow Rural Centre with its café, garden centre, art gallery, model village and numerous shops, ensuring there really is something to satisfy all ages.

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the Wistow Maze attracts over 15,000 visitors each year and is a winner of Leicestershire’s “Best Visitor Attraction”. At the end of each season, the maze is harvested for cattle fodder and then redesigned the following Spring using GPS satellite technology.

Wistow Maze is open seven days a week from Saturday 20th July through Sunday 1st September, then weekends only until Sunday 22nd September, from 10am to 6pm. Free Parking.
