Around Corby Walking Festival in its Fifth Year

May 4th, 5th & 6th are the dates for the 2013 Corby Walking Festival. In its fi fth year, the programme offers even more to interest walkers of all abilities with routes from just a few miles up to the full 35 mile Around Corby walk to be completed over just two days. All will feature the stunning countryside surrounding the town, its pretty villages, the wonderful Welland Valley and the many public footpaths crisscrossing the area.

There will be many superb walks, several of which will be led by members of the Ramblers. For those who love the countryside and the exercise walking provides, there will be something to suit everyone. Additional highlights will include Nordic Walking demonstrations, history and photo themed walks, woodland trails in Corby’s ancient woodlands and much more.

Corby is a Walkers are Welcome community with festival partners this year to include Corby Borough Council, Northants County Council, Northamptonshire Ramblers, the Rotary Club of Corby Phoenix, Corby Lions and many others such as the National Trust with two walks planned around the amazing 400 year old Lyveden New Bield just to the south east of Corby.

In addition to the comprehensive programme of walks, there will also be a special Community Fun Day, organised by Corby’s Lakelands Hospice on Monday, May 6th at East Carlton Park. The many attractions and events being featured will include Corby Silver Band, children’s rides, animal petting and a bouncy castle plus face painting, a dog show, archery and much more.
