Dear Reader

Summer is here and the holidays are just around the corner!  For many, this will mark a change as you prepare to enter primary or secondary school, college, university or working life.  Several of you will have been through exams and looking forward to a well-earned rest.  
The end of this academic year will also be the start of retirement for Sue Spooner, the dedicated Headteacher of Geddington C of E Primary school.  Hundreds of lucky children, including our own three, have had the privilege to have been taught by her over the past 33 years, and you can read about her visionary leadership and some of her achievements on page 12.  ‘From the old and to the new…’ as the next chapter begins.

So much fun to be had over the next two months - the pages ahead should inspire you to take part in some of the many events available to us.  From bushcraft activities on page 6, free guided bike rides on page 22 or pétanque on page 26 - there is something for every age group.

The Summer Fun section on pages 90-94 lists activities to keep the children entertained over the holidays, and there is a plethora of open gardens, garage sales, fêtes, fairs and re-enactments, outdoor cinema screenings, concerts and theatre performances, historic car races and music festivals available to enjoy over the summer period.

Oundle International Festival celebrates its 30th season, see pages 64-67, offering you a chance to win tickets to its Party at the Wharf.  The popular Oundle Food Festival also returns in July, see pages 58-59, and you can win tickets for one of the baking workshops.  Wistow Maze marks the centenary of WWI, see pages 98-99, and offers entry tickets to be won.  On page 16 you can read about how to enter Waitrose’s competition to win an online shop worth £100.  Best of luck...
