Jeweller Nigel Hill, known for his sense of humour and once called the most eccentric jeweller in the East Midlands, will be giving an illustrated talk with his partner, Tina Wiggins, in Cotterstock Village Hall on Saturday 21st May at 7pm for 7.30pm.
Nigel, who trained from a very young age, mainly in Hatton Garden, also begun his other career learning to play the drums starting at the age of eight. The business moved to Oundle in 2002 to start Harpur’s of Oundle. Having specialised in gemstones for many years, Harpur’s offers an eclectic mix of stock from small, independent makers.
The shop is a real Aladdin’s Cave, with oneoffs or small limited runs you won’t usually find in High Street stores. As manufacturers, Harpur’s also makes their own items for sale as well as offering a bespoke service. In addition, Nigel has been known to sell the odd suit of armour, the Russian Marshall Zurkov’s WW2 uniform, and even a horse’s hoof from The Charge of the Light Brigade!
Tickets for the talk, which promises to be a light-hearted and entertaining evening are priced at £8, including a glass of wine and canapés. They are available from Harpur’s of Oundle or from Dawn in Cotterstock on 01832 226096. All proceeds to The St Andrew’s Church Bell Restoration Project.
