Corby Silver Band is a traditional brass band that was formed for the Pole Fair in 1902, making it one of the oldest bands in the local area.

Although the majority of the players come from Corby, the band has members from Isham, Geddington, Little Stanion, Kettering, Rushden and other surrounding towns and villages. Corby Silver Bank currently has 30 permanent members, but would always be happy to welcome new brass and percussion players. It also has a few guest players who play for other groups or bands but drop in to Corby Silver Band rehearsals frequently as well.

On Saturday 16th May, the members of Corby Silver Band were celebrating success after being awarded second place in their section of the Wood Farm Brewery Contest held in Willey, near Rugby. This event is now in its third year and, once again, Corby Silver Band was amongst the prize winners in group B, which is open to bands who are graded in the third and fourth section. Corby Silver Band was the highest fourth section band, being beaten by a band that plays in the third section. The band received prize money and a shield, which is now on display at the Corby Silver Band Club.

Corby Silver Band tries to fi nd the correct balance of serious music making, whilst still having fun, making new friends and joining in with social events. Over the summer months, the band has a series of concerts: Abington Park in Northampton on Sunday 5th July at 2pm; Brigstock Village Fête on Saturday 11th July at 2pm; a formal concert in the band club to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Corby Silver Band club building on Saturday 18th July; and on Sunday 2nd August at the Uppingham Flower and Produce Show at 1.30pm.
