The market town of Thrapston has seen the Victorian Tea Shoppe Tasty Bite receive a major makeover during the last twelve months, thanks to mother, son and daughter team: Sarah, Dan and Holly Whiteside. The Thrapston Café, Tea Shoppe and Gift Emporium is now a real family affair.
A re-work of the interior, new menus and the introduction of local business retail shelves have seen this busy establishment progress from strength to strength, with many new visitors from far and wide heading over to enjoy what Tasty Bite has to offer.
The Tea Shoppe is central to the High Street, and with a coffee snug and beautiful courtyard garden for warmer months, it has a lot to offer. Fresh daily ingredients, weekly, seasonal specials, a wide selection of bread and cakes together with menus that include a children’s selection, are all part of the service at Tasty Bite.
In May 2014, Sarah approached a number of small business owners with the aim of incorporating retail shelves, which now offer a wide selection of products from Hilly Horton Home, Amber Nature and local artist Keith Hill. Sarah was keen to give visitors to the Tea Shoppe a unique shopping opportunity whilst supporting local businesses and Thrapston High Street at the same time. The response has been extraordinary, and Sarah, Dan and Holly are delighted with the positive feedback that they have received from customers.
Local business owner Hilly Horton has incorporated a large selection of homeware, kitchenalia, gifts and handmade textiles on her shelves at Tasty Bite, and her line of vintage school milk bottles and paper straws have proved very popular; these quirky bottles also used by the café for milk shakes, milk and children’s drinks!
Sarah, Dan and Holly are supported by a dedicated team of staff and the Tea Shoppe has a daily buzz making it a real destination point.
Tasty Bite is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.
