Corby Walking Festival is in its 7th annual year and has a new look. The Festival will be taking place from 25th through 31st May and hopes to offer a wider variety of walks to those who have been unable to take part before. As in previous years, the walk programme will celebrate the wealth of walking opportunities in and around Corby. The Festival will kick off with a free Family Fun Day on Monday 25th May at East Carlton Country Park, organised by Lakelands Day Care Hospice. Join in the family fun with archery, bouncy castles, face painting, falconry and much more! And if your dog deserves a Crufts style accolade, enter them into the Lakelands Dog Show.
The walking programme continues to offer a diverse range of walking activities, including local history, wildlife and evening walks. There is also a chance for people to take in the amazing scenery at Fineshade Woods’ Top Lodge this year with a Nature’s Larder Walk. After your forager’s expedition, sample some lovely food and beverages at the Top Lodge Café and take in the sights of the Red Kites wheeling overhead. The 34-mile Around Corby route will be reintroduced this year, which will be split into four shorter routes. So you can now take on this 34-mile route challenge and hopefully have energy to spare at the end of it! The Festival continues its special connection with Lakelands Day Care Hospice as the event’s benefi ciary charity. They will be organising their ‘Lakelands Legs’ event during the week, to help fundraise for their continued work in palliative care and life limiting services. Crazy socks will be required!
