BOUGHTON SUMMER SCREENINGS

Northamptonshire residents are being offered the chance to enjoy two awardwinning musicals under the stars at Boughton House. Tickets are now available for two special open air screenings of fi lmfavourites Les Misérables and Grease in the impressive gardens at the stately home of the Duke of Buccleuch.

As the sun sets on Saturday 2nd August, visitors will have the unique opportunity to enjoy Tom Hooper’s powerful screen adaptation of Les Misérables at the reallife venue for the on-screen wedding of characters Marius and Cosette. Boughton, known as the English Versailles’, was a key fi lming location for the Oscar-winning production.

Then, on Sunday 3rd August, Grease is the word as cinema-goers are invited to relax on the lawn and enjoy the 70s classic. The fi lms are scheduled to start at sunset and visitors are invited to come along from 7pm and enjoy a picnic in the screening area. During the month of August, the historic House and grounds will also be open to visitors.

FERMYN WOODS COUNTRY PARK

As well as being a great place to enjoy the outdoors with rich wildlife and play areas, Fermyn Woods Country Park, near Brigstock, is putting on a range of events this summer. The Fermyn Summer Quiz Trail runs daily from 10am to 4.30pm during the period from Saturday 26th July to Sunday 7th September. This self-led quiz takes you around the Skylark Nature Trail with lots of questions and facts about the park’s wildlife. £2 per trail sheet (including a cute prize). Pick yours up from the Skylark Café.

There will be Wildlife Wednesdays from 23rd July to 27th August. Half-hour sessions run from 11am to 12.30pm and then from 1.30- 3.30pm. Join the Ranger to have a go at Pond Dipping at
the Country Park or Mini Beast Hunt if the pond is too low. Buy your ticket from the Skylark Café. All equipment will be provided and the cost is £2 per person. Northampton Saints Premiership Rugby Academy.

‘Terrifi c Toys and Glorious Games’ is a programme packed full of summer holiday craft activities, themed on toys and games, sure to keep the children entertained. Held at the Manor House Museum in Sheep Street, Kettering, the programme starts at 11am on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 24th July through 14th August, and then every day from Tuesday 19th through Friday 22nd August and Tuesday 26th through Friday 29th August.
