It must be spring: vibrant concerts in villages around Oundle are back. The Music in Quiet
Places spring season consists of two concerts: young guitarist Manus Noble will play at the
Church of St James the Great in Thurning on Friday 23rd May at 7.30 pm, and returning by popular request - the Kosmos Ensemble including Harriet Mackenzie on violin, Meg Hamilton on viola and Milos Milivojevic playing accordion, will perform at All Saints Church in King’s Cliffe on Friday 6th June at 7.30 pm.

Manus Noble was awarded fi rst prize for the Guitar Competition at the Royal College of Music before going on to the String Player of the Year Competition and giving his debut recital at
the Cadogan Hall. He also received the award for ‘Most Outstanding Musician’ from Magdalen
College, Oxford. Manus has developed a certain fl air and passion for modern techniques and repertoire, with many composers choosing to write new works for him. He also continues to write and perform his own compositions.

The members of Kosmos travel widely, performing with and learning from musicians from all over the world and also in the unique multiculturalism of the London music scene.

Kosmos has re-defi ned the relationship between classical and world music: sophisticated jazz
glides magically into wild Gypsy fi ddling, emotive Jewish music into hot-blooded tango, Arabic and Turkish improvisation into Greek melodies. Harriet, Meg and Milos have crafted a programme unique to Kosmos.

There will be new, imaginative arrangements of Brahms, Dvorak, Sarasate and Piazzolla,  vibrant compositions, entrancing dance rhythms and soulful improvisation, delivered with great panache, innovation and creativity For more information visit www.oundlefestival.org.uk
