OPEN AIR EVENTS
Boughton House is hosting an open air screening of the award winning Les Misérables motion picture a year after the Universal production team fi lmed at the Estate, giving Northamptonshire locals the opportunity to watch one of the year’s biggest blockbusters at the very location it was filmed.

Boughton’s grounds will be open to theatre goers to enjoy a picnic on the lawn as the sun sets before settling back to watch Tom Hoper’s breath-taking screen adaption. Chosen as a fi lming location for Les Misérables thanks to its French architectural style, Boughton doubled as the family home of one of the movie’s key characters, ‘Marius’ (played by Eddie Redmayne), and provides the setting for his wedding to ‘Cosette’ (Amanda Seyfried).

The Les Misérables screening at Boughton will take place on 18th August with doors open from 6.30pm for picnics and the fi lm starting at 8.30pm. The fi lm’s running time is approximately 140 minutes and tickets costs £12.50/£8.50 in advance. To book tickets please visit www.summerscreens.  co.uk/2013/08/les-miserables.  For more information on Boughton House, visit www.boughtonhouse.org.uk

On Saturday 20th July, the Rain or Shine Theatre Company are planning for plenty of shine as they present what is thought to be one of Shakespeare’s fi rst plays, The Comedy Of Errors, in the lovely gardens of Lamport Hall. This exciting and hilarious tale of mistaken identity is an ideal choice for an outdoor theatrical event, bringing classical theatre into the heart of local communities. Suitable for children (6 and up), and adults of all ages, audiences are invited to bring along lowbacked seating or rugs, and a picnic to maximise their enjoyment of the al fresco performances.

Rain or Shine’s cast of nine professional actors are all set to re-create the comical confusion and chaotic capers of Shakespeare’s hilarious masterpiece of mistaken identity. Once upon a time… two sets of identical twin babies and their parents survived a shipwreck. Fate, however, decreed that the family should be split up, the mother one way, the father and one of each twin another, and the fi nal pair a third way… Twenty fi ve years later, in search of their long lost family, two of the twins, Antipholus of Syracuse and his manservant, Dromio, arrive in Ephesus, a city reputedly full of rogues, cheats and sorcerers. Although this is their fi rst visit merchants greet them as acquaintances, women pursue them as lovers, and Ephesus appears to be a place where everybody knows their names!

The performance starts at 6.30pm.  Tickets in advance: adult £13, OAP £12, children (5-18) £7, available from 01604 686272. Tickets on the gate (cash only): adult £15, OAP £14, children (5-18) £9.

Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado about Nothing’ will be performed at Stanwick Lakes grass amphitheatre on Sunday 21st July at 2pm and 7pm. The play revolves around two couples; Hero & Claudio are young, in love and looking forward to their wedding day, Beatrice & Benedick are not so young, not so “in love” they look forward to sparring and scoring verbal points at the others expense!

Throw in a dastardly villain, some covert match making and a host of colourful comedy characters and you have everything you need for Shakespeare by the lake! Bring a picnic and enjoy this Great British tradition.

Doors will open one hour before curtain up and audiences are invited to bring a low back chair or rug and be prepared for all weathers!

Tickets are on sale now at £12 & £10 from www.nolossproductions.co.uk, booking fees apply on line.

On Saturday 17th August Heartbreak Productions Open Air Theatre are returning to Barnwell Country Park, this year with ‘Romeo and Juliet’ commencing at 7.30pm.

To make the most of this open air performance, please bring low backed seating and/or rugs, extra clothing and insect repellent and of course, your picnics!

Tickets available online: £12 adult, £8 conc. (over 60, under 16). Please go to www.heartbreakproductions.co.uk for more details and to purchase tickets.
