The Swallows Rest Bed & Breakfast is a newly converted extension to the Brigstock home of Sam and Nick Read, situated on a quiet country lane overlooking fi elds and a vineyard. The couple has, for a long time, had as their dream to open a unique B&B with emphasis on comfort at a reasonable price. Having both worked in the hospitality industry for many years, Sam and Nick know how important the little details are to the overall experience, which is evident when you look at what they have achieved with their conversion. They want their guests to feel at home but with a little bit of luxury thrown in for good measure! The Swallows Rest offers two beautifully decorated bedrooms with luxurious ensuite bathrooms, a bright and airy dining area for breakfast plus a delightful garden terrace. The house looks out to wonderful views across the countryside and is a peaceful place to come to work, rest or play. The B&B is also ideal for all of us living locally when we have friends or family to stay but not enough room at home to accommodate our guests. Both the ‘Willow’ room and the ‘Swallows’ room offer extra comfortable superking beds with sumptuous mattress toppers and Egyptian cotton bed linen. There is a working desk in each room, free wi-fi , 42 inch fl at screen TV with lots of channels, thermostatic control heating, thick luxurious curtains, full length fi tted wardrobes with hangers and a professional hairdryer. You will also fi nd a selection of Teapig teas and ground coffee, homemade cookies and bottled fi ltered water to enjoy during your stay. Both bathrooms have a powerful shower and bath, super fl uffy towels, underfl oor heating, heated towel rail and lovely organic bathroom toiletries that don’t strip your skin. The ‘Willow’ room, with its roll top bath and separate walk-in ‘drench’ shower can be offered as a double or family room as it includes two truckle beds to accommodate two children up to the age of 12. The ‘Swallows’ room has a white marble tiled bathroom with bath, power shower and full wall mirror and boasts delightful views out to the terrace and garden; this room can be offered as a twin or a double. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and one Sam and Nick want you to remember and come back for. Their delicious breakfast is always freshly cooked to order and uses mostly locally sourced ingredients. The Continental Breakfast is served during the week and includes a wide selection of cereals, home-baked bread, toast, croissants and chocolate croissants, Nana’s Marmalade, local homemade plum jam and Brigstock’s very own honey, with freshly squeezed orange juice and a selection of teas and cafetière coffee. During the weekend, a Full English Breakfast is offered, which includes all of the above plus the unique “Swallows Rest Sausage” and dry-cured smoked back bacon from Manor Farm Butchers in Woodford, eggs from the chickens next door, tomatoes, organic chestnut mushrooms and special baked beans. Alternatively, porridge with maple syrup or brown sugar is also available. Prices are per room and start from £60 including breakfast. Discounts are available for two or more nights.
