At Farndon Fields Farm Shop, we grow over 40 types of seasonal fruits, vegetables and potatoes that are picked fresh from the farm everyday. Due to the cold, wet start to Spring our crops will be a little later coming into season than normal. However, our home-grown asparagus and strawberries will be in season any time now… So, this is a good time to come and visit us! Our buying policy is to support local farmers and small businesses and therefore we use over 70 local suppliers from Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire for our meat, cheeses, bread, cakes and chutneys, to name a few. As you make your way through the shop to the Deli you’ll notice it is stocked full of specialist products from English cheese, home-cooked meats and pies, home-made tarts, sausage rolls and coleslaw... along with many other products cooked in our Café kitchen! Wesses Bakery, which is only a stones throw away, supply us with freshly baked bread every morning... you can’t get more local than that! ‘Britain’s Best Bakery’ Hambleton Bakery provide us with delicious traditional handmade artisan breads... fantastic cakes and tarts. A wonderful range of cakes made by our local cake ladies are delivered throughout the week. Our Butchers buy direct from local farms and butcher the carcasses themselves, enabling them to then mince their own beef, and produce their award winning burgers and sausages. With BBQ season looming you’ll find a great range of meats ideal for those who love to get the BBQ out with the first sight of summer... For the not so brave you can just stick to cooking them in the oven! Our friendly and relaxing Café serves homemade food to order, the menu and specials board are filled with delicious meal choices, snacks, cakes and drinks... the hard part is trying to choose what you fancy! Our outdoor seating area looks out onto the beautiful and colourful plant centre, great for enjoying an ice cold drink on a lovely warm day. This year, our plant centre underwent a make-over which enabled us to have twice the amount of display space. The greenhouse also holds a range of plants, seeds and gifts that are not to be missed! In the last six months, our team here at Farndon Fields Farm has been awarded the Farmers Weekly Local Food Farmer of the Year award, followed closely by a ‘Highly Commended’ Second place in the Countryside Alliance Local Food Award. Most recently, our butchers scooped up two Gold awards, one for their Beef Quarter Pounder Burger and the second for their Pork, Pepper and Coriander Burger.
