Ryta Lyndley of Raunds writes children’s stories about animals being kind to each other with the aim of inspiring young readers to integrate better with their peers.

Ryta writes from her own experiences of having, over many years, observed and enjoyed country landscapes with all its varied wildlife. Discovering too the inhabitants of her garden, gleaning ideas from her natural surroundings to write her first illustrated children’s book: Tales of Brick Kiln Brook and Dingle Ditch.

Ryta’s first book contains twelve short, charming tales of a mouse family and their many friends. Each story has an educational, green and wildlife theme encouraging readers to observe the natural world around us. More Tales of Brick Kiln Brook and Dingle Ditch, Ryta’s the second book in the series, continues the educational, green and wildlife theme, and each of the stories looks at how animals interact with each other and encourages children to learn about wildlife and how to treat the animals living alongside them.

Ryta also visits schools or children’s groups to read her books dressed as a cat. She donates a 20% discount towards school funds for any book sold at the event. The books are priced at £6.99 and is currently available at The Old Forge in Cranford, Oundle Book Shop and Waterstones in Kettering and Market Harborough.
