2016 - A Big Year for Lions!

This year, the International
organisation of Lions Clubs is
celebrating its 100th anniversary.
It has over 1.4 million members
worldwide and local clubs can be found in
over 200 countries in all the continents of
the world. Lions Clubs are a charity which
exists to ‘serve others’, whether through
water projects in Africa, disaster relief
in Nepal or supporting local groups and
individuals. It is one of the few charities that
does not spend a penny on administration
- all the money collected goes straight to
those in need.

During 2016, The Corby and District Lions
Club is planning fund-raising events;
amongst others, a race night, a Funday
at East Carlton Park, collecting at local
supermarkets and taking part in Corby
Carnival. The monies raised will mostly
go to local groups, such as helping with
funding for children’s care at Christmas and
a pensioners’ spring tea party.

Socially, the group is planning, again
amongst other events, to enjoy a
canal trip, a visit to Peterborough
Dog Racing, a bar skittles night
and a visit to an outdoor theatre.
Corby and District Lions Club is a
small group of only eleven at present
and they are looking for new members to
join them. The Club is open to anyone over
21, male or female, with the willingness to
help those in need - but most importantly,
to have fun and friendship whilst doing so.
