Jane Fletcher, a former ballerina
who danced alongside the Russian
great Rudolf Nureyev in her first
professional role, has set up her
own Pilates exercise venture to help
promote the exercise she used as a
professional dancer.

Jane has wanted to dance for as long
as she can remember; at the age of
11, she was accepted into the Royal
Ballet School and, at the age of 17 she
won a place in the English National
Ballet Company.

More than four decades on she has qualified as an
instructor of Pilates – an exercise regime she has
used throughout her dancing career.

Pilates was originally extremely popular with
dancers, especially so to help them get their strength
and flexibility back after injury. Jane used it when
she was dancing, as well as following pregnancy, to
get back into shape for the stage. After retiring from
ballet and having spent many years in the business
world, Jane decided to train as a Pilates teacher, not
only to deal with her own aches and pains but also
because she knew she could help all kinds of people
– men or women – whether they are recovering from
injury, dealing with ongoing back or joint pain or
simply just wanting to improve core muscle strength,
posture, fitness and well-being. Pilates is a gentle,
restorative, yet highly effective exercise method.

Jane’s group Pilates classes in Northamptonshire
take place in Broughton and Cranford:
Wednesdays 9.30-10.30am
Cranford Village Hall
Saturdays 9.30-10.30am
Broughton Village Hall

Jane is considering more potential venues to expand
her classes. Private 1:1 or small group sessions are
available, and all new starters are welcome to attend
an introductory taster session before joining.
