Once again, advanced ticket sales are breaking all records for the Silverstone Classic to be held over the weekend of 25th-27th July. Winner of the prestigious ‘Motorsport Event of the Year Award’ of 2013, the three-day festival features the very best of historic racing as well as live music from classic rock bands. Add to that a wealth of family entertainment including free fun fair, retail outlets and air displays and you have a weekend not to be missed.

Formula One History

Three iconic eras of Formula One will include Pre ’61 and Pre ’66 cars, while the FIA Masters Historic Formula One series for 3 litre cars from 1966 to 1985 will be a real treat too.

Sports and GT cars

Group C Le Mans cars will be racing on both Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday’s race being held in the evening at dusk with headlights blazing. Making their fi rst appearance at the Silverstone Classic this year will be GT cars from the 1990s, with at least 40 cars expected from an era which included types such as the McLaren F1, Porsche 911 GT1, Lister Storm and Chrysler Viper. They will race on all three days.

Historic Saloon Cars

Historic saloons are always fun to watch as the racing is often very close. The Super Touring Car Championship will be hosting their fl agship event at Silverstone giving spectators a chance to see these exciting machines from the 1990s, while earlier cars such as the Lotus Cortina will have their own race too.

Historic Single-Seaters

Apart from Formula One cars, single-seaters from junior categories will also feature including Formula Ford, Formula Junior and for the fi rst time this year Formula 3.  Celebrating its golden anniversary this year, having replaced Formula Junior in 1964, these
cars were stepping stones for many of the future Grand Prix legends such as Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.

Car Clubs Displays

Such a major part of this event, the car club displays are simply stunning. Celebrations include 100 years of Maserati, and 50 years of the Ford Mustang. Both will feature ontrack
parades while a full Mustang only race with competition prepared cars from all over the world will be a real sight to behold.

There will be live music concerts on Friday featuring the original Canned Heat who were
formed nearly 50 years ago, while on Saturday Bonnie Tyler will take centre stage. Tyler shot to prominence in the late seventies and early eighties with hits such as ‘Lost in France’ and ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’.
