Sunday 3rd November Summer in February (15)
From the 1995 novel by Jonathan Smith and based on true events, the
fi lm focuses on the wild and Bohemian Lamorna Group, part of the Newlyn
School of artists which fl ourished at the beginning of the 20th century. The
incendiary, anti Modernist Munnings (Dominic Cooper) by now regarded as
one of Britain’s most sought after artists, is at the centre of a complex love
triangle involving aspiring artist Florence Carter-Wood (Emily Browning)
and Gilbert Evans, the land agent of the Lamorna Valley Estate. This
intimate story is played out against the picturesque beauty of the Cornish
coast, in the time leading up to the First World War.

Friday 8th November Zero Dark Thirty (15)
A gripping, suspenseful and brilliantly crafted fi lm with scenes of torture and
violence in the fi rst twenty minutes, this fi lm tells how the hunt for Osama
Bin Laden preoccupied the world and two presidential administrations
for more than a decade. It took a small, brilliant team of CIA operatives
to eventually track him down, their mission shrouded in secrecy. Many
of the signifi cant parts of the intelligence operation are brought to the
screen for the fi rst time in this gripping fi lm by Oscar winning creative duo
Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal. This account of bin Laden’s pursuit and
capture, vividly portrayed yet faithful to the facts, takes the viewer inside
the hubs of power and to the front lines of this historic mission, culminating
in the special operations assault on the mysterious suburban Pakistani
compound.

Sunday 17th November
We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks (15)
As fascinating as it is provocative, ‘We Steal Secrets’ attempts to untangle
one of the greatest controversies of our time. Director Alex Gibney
examines the rise and rumours of Wikileaks, its Australian beginnings
and its internet activist editor Julian Assange. The documentary reveals
Private Bradley Manning as the original whistle-blowing hero, and the
power of the worldwide web to hold governments accountable.

Sunday 24th November Before Midnight (15)
Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy) fi rst met in their twenties in
‘Before Sunrise’ (1995), reunited in their thirties in ‘Before Sunset’ (2004).
Now, nine years later, they face the past, present and future; family,
romance and love. Although this is the third so far in what may turn out
to be a trilogy the fi lm stands well alone. Co-written by the director and
principal stars, it examines the responsibilities and emotions of middleage.
Witty, acerbic, emotional and with razor sharp dialogue.

Sunday 15th December Star Trek Into Darkness (12A)
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they fi nd an
unstoppable force of terror from within their own organisation has
detonated the fl eet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in
a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a
manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass
destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of
life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and
sacrifi ces must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
