Harald Haugaard Trio

In the past 15 years Harald Haugaard has established himself as one of Denmark’s most acknowledged musicians. In his virtuoso fiddle playing he combines the playful ease with a rich melancholy sound. His compositions are contemporary, original and in his overall artistic work deeply rooted in the rich Danish musical tradition. In the creation of music and performing Haugaard is an artist who is inquisitive and continuously searches for something new. He is undoubtedly rooted in traditional Danish music but brings with him a
contemporary flair and has been hailed as one of the world’s best folk fiddlers.

Friday 14th June, 7.30pm
Pilton - Church of All Saints and St Mary

‘3 OBOES DANCING’ - Pipers 3

3 Oboes Dancing is a programme of music inspired by dance. In it, Pipers 3 explore music from the Baroque to the contemporary including traditional rhythms from France and Scotland with McGuire’s ‘Celtic Knotwork’ containing a Celtic jig for good measure.
And what is the Minuet all about? Found throughout Baroque and Classical repertoire, Pipers 3 explain its history and use ending their concert with Beethoven’s epic Trio in C for 2 oboes and cor anglais.

Also included is a brand new work written by Alasdair Nicolson; his ‘Tempest Suite’ based
on music written for a theatre production given at the Orkney Festival in 2011. Its movements, based on dance rhythms, throw one into the fantasy world of magic and spirits. Come and experience a highly varied programme of toe-tapping pieces performed by Europe’s foremost oboe trio, Pipers 3, and you never know… they may even have you dancing in the aisles!

The four concerts scheduled for September and October will be performed by The Harborough Collective, solo violinist David le Page, Horns Aloud and The Villiers String Quartet.

Tickets are £13, £11 for concessions and £3 for under 18s. Book for three different concerts or more and save £1 per ticket.
