Re-opening after
£100,000 investment

Titchmarsh Village Hall, more commonly
referred to as ‘The Clubroom’, has re-opened
following a £100,000 investment in a new
meeting room and improved toilet facilities.
The refurbishment, consisting of the addition
of a self-contained meeting room to hold up
to around 15 people, and the modernisation
and redevelopment of the toilet facilities, was
made possible by the support from a number
of funding partners and cash from the Village
Hall reserves.

According to Geoff Love, Chairman of The
Clubroom, the committee is delighted to
have been able to modernise the ageing
toilet facilities and to add on a new meeting
room for use by smaller groups. Residents
of Titchmarsh are lucky to have such a
modern and usable facility in the village, and
the reaction to the new facilities has been
overwhelmingly positive.

The staff and children of Titchmarsh Preschool,
one of The Clubroom’s major hirers,
are already taking advantage of the improved
facilities. The Pre-school now has the capacity
to take on more children and is confident that
the new facilities and the Good Ofsted rating
will encourage parents to come and see the
pre-school for themselves.

Funding for the redevelopments was made
available through Grants from a number of
funding bodies. The single largest grant
came from Wren, with a donation in excess
of £36,000. Other funders included Garfield
Weston Foundation, Bernard Sunley
Charitable Foundation, Maud Elkington
Charitable Trust, the Empowering Councillors
Fund, and Section 106 Grant Funding linked
to the development of affordable housing in
Titchmarsh.

Activities already taking place throughout the
week include Folk Dancing on a Monday,
Kickboxing on Tuesdays, Zumba on Thursdays,
and Youth Club on alternate Fridays. The new
meeting room is now available for hire at a
cost of £6 per hour for village residents, and
£10 per hour for commercial, and non-village
hirers.
