This year sees Groove on the Green reach its eighth year. The annual music and beer festival in Walgrave attracts in excess of 1000 people who come to enjoy a family fun day and live music in the beautiful outdoors.

The standard of the bands gets better each year whilst keeping true to the original ethos: to provide an opportunity for young (and not so young) local bands to show off their talents.

In the afternoon, there will be music to please everyone covering many genres including rock, blues, acoustic, rock choir and solo singers. In the evening, Groove on the Green welcomes back the Happy Fridays for the third year running, with Superfly and Wordsworth headlining. The beer festival has more than 20 locally produced real ales and ciders to sample and a bar serving other drinks if real ale isn’t for you. There is something for all the family including a bouncy castle, stalls to browse showing off locally produced goods and a BBQ/refreshments.

The event starts at 1pm and ends at 11pm. Entrance is free until 5pm after which a ticket (available on the gate) is £8 per person or £15 for two. Under 12’s are free all day. More information is available at www.grooveonthegreen.com or on Facebook.

So come and join us for a brilliant family day of entertainment and help raise money for good causes locally.
