Local Crime Author Launches Her Third N ovel

Northamptonshire author Jane Isaac celebrated the release of her third novel, Before It’s Too Late, at the beginning of June with a launch party at Waterstones, Market Harborough, and a reading at Kettering Library as part of the KettFest weekend.

The book is a psychological crime thriller and follows her previous novels: An Unfamiliar Murder and The Truth Will Out. Before It’s Too Late tells the story of Chinese student Min Li, who is abducted whilst walking the dark streets of Stratford-Upon- Avon alone following an argument with her boyfriend. Detective Inspector Will Jackman is tasked with solving the case and in his search for answers discovers that the truth is buried deeper than he ever expected. For Jane, one of the nicest aspects about writing a novel is the research and the people that you meet along the way. Apart from police procedural research, this novel required a study of Chinese culture and many trips to Stratford to explore the town and the surrounding Warwickshire countryside, although the biggest challenge was writing a main character through the eyes of a different gender, which was much more different than Jane expected!

The book has been endorsed by top names in the crime fi ction world including Phil Rickman, Mel Sherratt and CWA Goldsboro Gold Dagger Award Winner Mick Herron, and was described as ‘A dark and fascinating contemporary crime read’ by Northern Crime Reviews. Jane lives in rural Northamptonshire where she fits her fiction writing around her day job and family. She can often be seen trudging across the fi elds with her Labrador, Bollo, pondering her characters and plotlines. Jane is aware that many members of the local community may have a keen interest in writing and publishing their own work.

Whether you are a writers’ group, book club, rotary club or women’s institute she would be happy to come out and talk to you about the process, and invites you to contact her via her website at www.janeisaac.co.uk. Before It’s Too Late is published by Legend Press and available on Amazon and in all good bookshops. Jane will be signing copies of the book at Waterstones, Leicester, on Saturday 8th August from 12.30pm. Do pop along for a slice of cake and a chat.
