Local artist, Ali Kelly, is currently exhibiting some of her paintings and illustrations at The Old Barn in Wadenhoe.

Having studied at Northampton College of Art after leaving school, Ali went into Illustration, mainly working as a freelance pen and ink illustrator for Yellow Pages. At the age of 50, she secured a place at an Art & Design College in Sydney, Australia, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Upon her return to Northamptonshire, Ali has experimented more with different colours and mediums. She now takes on commissions for, not only pen and ink illustrations, but also paintings and crayon work. Demand for pet portraits, in particular, has been high in recent years.

Commissions are undertaken for churches, wedding locations, pubs, houses and business premises, and make beautiful and individual gifts. One such commission illustrated below is the leaving present for Sue Spooner, Headteacher of Geddington C of E Primary School, depicting all three school buildings in which she taught during her 33 years at the village school.

Pen and ink illustrations are also ideal for wedding invitations, note cards, general stationery, business cards, letterheads as well as for advertising.

Further examples of Ali’s work can be seen on her website below.
